My Friends

As we live in society, we meet a lot of people during our lives. We communicate with all these people, but our attitudes towards each of these people are different. Usually I classify people I know as acquaintances, friends and close friends. I'm going to tell you about the best friends of mine. They are Victor Danilov and Dmitri Petrov.
Victor is a good-natured guy of medium height, strong in body, light-haired with light blue eyes. Usually he is the life and soul of the party. Victor is fond of foreign languages. Not so long ago he decided to study English. He worked on it persistently, and now he speaks English well.
Victor also likes music. He is a good singer, he plays mouth organ and dances better than Michael Jackson.
Dmitri is rather slim, not very tall, his hair is brown, his eyes are grey. Usually he wears T-shirts with emblems of football clubs, such as "Dinamo" (Moscow) and "Zenit"(St. Petersburg). He is an enthusiastic football fan.
Dmitri is an extremely sociable person. By means of e-mail he corresponds with many people from different countries. They discuss political and economical issues. Dmitri is also interested in philosophy. He often cites Confucius's utterances.
My friends are very interesting to talk to. Both of them possess great charm, they are both very clever and educated guys, they are open-hearted and social, well-mannered and tactful. People usually like them. I'm happy to have such friends as Victor and Dmitri.

My Day off    I go to school five days a week, so I have two days off — Saturday and Sunday (I'm lucky, because some other pupils have the only one day off). During the week I am very busy, so I like to have a rest on weekend.   I am not an early riser and it is a rare Saturday or Sunday when I get up before 9 o'clock. I enjoy staying in bed, when 1 don't have to hurry anywhere. We have late break
Sport in Australia   A lot of Australians think you shouldn't worry too much about life.   But some things in life are really important, and to many Australian men, one of these things is sport. It's something they don't joke about. Sport matters,. In pubs, clubs and even at work you'll often find men who can talk about only one thing — sport.   Australians are lucky. They have a perfect climate,
British Homes   There are 22 million homes in Britain — big homes and small homes, old cottages and new buildings, houses and flats. (Americans say "apartment" but British people say "flat"). Many British people love old houses and these are often more expensive than modern ones. They also love gardening and you will see gardens everywhere you go: in towns, villages and out in the country.   Some
There are all kinds of racing in England - horse-racing, motor-car racing, boat-racing, dog-racing, and even races for donkeys. On sports days at school boys and girls run races, and even train for them. There is usually a mile race for older boys, and one who wins it is certainly a good runner. Usually those who run a race go as fast as possible, but there are some races in which everybody has to
If I had a chance to go to London I'd like to see not only the places of interest but many other interesting things there. Certainly everyone knows that the most famous sights of the capital of the Great Britain are Tower Bridge over the river Themes, Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Saint Paul's Cathedral, The British museum, Art Gallery. It seems I know all these sights well
I cannot say that I have a lot of spare time because it takes me much time to get ready for my exams to the University and learning exams at school. But nevertheless I find a spare minute to have a rest and do what I want and like. I have a computer and I can get a lot of information and songs from the Internet. I can sit hours and hours communicating with my friends through the Internet. As far a
Banking   What am I going to do after school or university? Maybe I should consider a job in the world of banking. There's a surprisingly wide range to choose from — for example, I could work for a high-street bank. Let us see what's what and who's who. If to take the roof off a high-street bank, one can reveal that lots of people work behind the scenes in banks. There's the clerical staff (someti
My Favourite Writer (I. Turgenev)   I'm fond of reading. Usually I borrow books from the library, but I have a lot of them at home, too. I like to read books about famous people and detective stories. Literature means much in my life. It helps to form the character and to understand life better.   There are some names in Russian and Foreign literature that are very dear to me.   In Russian literat

Appearance: Parts of the Face   People who can't hear often learn to understand a spoken language with their eyes. They watch the mouth of the person talking and follow the movement of his lips. This is called lip-reading.   Some people think the distance between your hair and your eyebrow is a sign of how intelligent you are.
